INFORMATION ON THE STRIKE ACTION BY THE ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES(ASUU)
Today, *April 14th 2022* makes it the *60th* day since the commencement of the strike. For How long will students Continue to be victims of the Manipulation by the Federal Government.
It's been 60 days yet, negotiations have not started. Only one meeting has held. Students are distressed, some are giving up on the educational system already.
The Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige, who rumour has it will declare for Presidency after Easter, mentioned that he can't tell the Education Ministry what to do.
Also, The Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu hasn't had the time to address Nigerians at least. And some days ago, the media reported that he expressed *_shock_* over the strike action by ASUU. Rumour also has it that he has a Governorship aspiration in his state, Bauchi. The education minister also celebrated his son who graduated from a foreign University. We're not cursed for schooling in our own land. The vice President who happens to me a Professor (therefore a member of ASUU) decleared hos aspiration for Presidency and mentioned that "he will continue from where his Boss, Buhari Stopped."
The government has also said they need 6 weeks to decide on the strike. My friends, it is exactly 4 weeks till the end of this phase of the strike. My question is what has the government been doing since February 14 when the strike began, infact since September 2021 when the strike has been threatening?
These leaders in their youths, would not let these happen. Even In the worst and harshest Government the students had a voice.
No matter what the issue could be, 2009 is 13 years ago. The government has the responsibility of ensuring sanity in the country. They should make the necessary sacrifices and take up the mantle of responsibility. If we don't speak up now. Our younger ones and our children will suffer the consequences. If we want to remind silent and wither the educational system of Nigeria, this is still the time. But we shouldn't. Either ways no one can cry more than the bereaved - the Students.
We hope the government settles Asuu soon so that the students can return back to their various universities.
